Well I'm gonna do it --and I think it's too late to back out...

...but I don't really want to back out:) I am going to do the Death Race this year! It looks as though we've got a family team. Cam, my dad, Terry, and one other person not yet known for sure. Cam has been in this race twice before. It is a 125km race through the mountains in Grande Cache, AB. You can do it solo, or as a relay. Of course we're doing the 5 person relay. My leg is the easiest one which will be 19km (just under 12 miles). Terry is doing the hardest one which is 38km and we have to figure out who is doing the inbetween ones. I'm slightly terrified, but that's what is drawing me to do it in the first place. I want to challenge myself. Check it out at www.canadiandeathrace.com. Cam and I have begun jogging together. We've only gone twice. 3k and 5km. Tried to go again last night but it was so icy that we just walked. Even the poor dog wiped out. Thank goodness we've got 6 months to train. The race is August 4th-5th.

Cam just bought a new set of drums. He is quite excited. We got a really good deal on them. A lady from our church owns the music store and she graciously put us on a payment plan with no interest.
Cam is such a gifted drummer and it seems to be his passion. I don't think I ever mentioned that Cam is part of a band now. Our friend Brad Langerud is a very talented singer/guitar player and he has asked Cam to be his drummer and another friend plays bass. It is called the Sam Waters Project. Their goal is to be a ministry in Fort St John reaching out to the non- Christians. They want to play at coffee shops and different events. It's quite exciting. The website is www.samwaters.ca. It's not completely finished but keep checking for updates. If you want to hear a clip of the music check out www.myspace.com/thehilloftheskull. It is a rough cut of Brad's CD, so the drums and bass aren't added to it yet. Wow, I've never posted any links to sites before and now I have 3 for you! Anyway, our garage is where the hub of musical activity is going on. That is where they practice. It's not overbearing...just loudest in Kelsey's bedroom, because her wall is closest to the garage.

Leah is more active than ever now. She still can't crawl, but she doesn't sit still either. She just rolls everyhwere. And she makes a mess of her blankets and bumper pad in her crib each night. Sometimes I check on her at night and sure enough she's laying in a funny position in the corner with no covers! I'm pretty sure she's cutting a tooth now as well.

Kelsey caught word that Lauryn and Brooke are going to Disneyworld. She doesn't even know what that is but I told her that's where Cinderella lives. Well, of course she wants to go too now. She always says, "I'm gonna wear my dress!" (Terry bought her a princess dress-up kit for Christmas). Unfortunately we're not going to go. Cam and I are saving up for our 2nd honeymoon trip for just the 2 of us this fall.

Dreamin of hot sandy beaches,
Bonnie

I think the death race sounds awesome. I wish that I could be there to cheer you on. I think running is one of the all time greatest sports, especially trail running.
